SAS Zombie Assault Wiki

Swarm Zombies are a common zombie type which have appeared in every game in the SAS: Zombie Assault series until SAS: Zombie Assault 4, where they are replaced with Shamblers. Whereas the zombies of the first two games (and expansion) were simply called 'zombies', SAS: Zombie Assault 3 first identifies the main zombies as 'Swarm Zombies'.

―How to Play

Swarm Zombies appear in Zombie Assault 3 reprising their role as the most common zombie seen, and now come in three different skins. They only have a small amount of health, being taken out by only two shots from a Glock 17 early in the game. When spawning, they let out a low pitched growling sound.

A small threat individually, if left unattended they will eventually form giant groups which easily overrun players and destroy barricades in seconds. It is recommended to prevent them from grouping as soon as possible.

In the mobile version of Zombie Assault 3, there are also stronger Swarm Zombies that are tinted red or green. Going even further, some of these tinted Swarmers have a health bar.

In Tower Defense, there is a stronger version of the Swarm Zombie, called 'Schoolboy V2' in the game's files. It appears to have claws in place of hands.

  • Swat. Carelessly swings their arms at the player doing minimal damage.

  • Try not to get caught in buildings or small rooms as these zombies will often swarm the door, making it difficult to escape.
  • Grenades, Shotguns, the RPG7, or weapons with high penetration are extremely effective in taking out large swarms.
