- "Heavy Gunner's special skills make them ideal for delivering overwhelming force to enemy positions."
- ―Official description
The Heavy is a playable class in SAS: Zombie Assault 4. Having the highest base health of 2,200, which will increase by 100 with every level-up, this class generally focuses on survival & supressing groups of enemies. Speed and firepower can be stressed, albeit to a lesser extent than the Assault class. If survival is the main priority, the Heavy is the best class for it. The Heavy's starting weapons are the Z-5 Heavy for the primary weapon and the HVM 001 as a sidearm, which is the same starting sidearm of every classes. At level 20, the Heavy can unlock the Aerial Bombardment skill.

Skills[]
- Main article: SAS: Zombie Assault 4 Skills#Heavy_
- Hold The Line: Increases your weapon damage and weapon penetration while not moving, or by half the listed bonus while moving. This skill can increase the Heavy's DPS dramatically. At max, damage and pierce will be increased by 126%, or 63% while moving. This skill is really useful when you use weapons with high damage snd a high RoF (which likely come with movement penalty as a drawback) like MGs, Flamethrower and/or equip armor pieces that have significant movement penalty (like Hardplate pieces.)
- Heavy Gear: Reduces movement penalty for all weapons and armour. This skill can enable the Heavy to use any weapon and armor piece without being slowed down nearly as much. This skill makes heavy equipment (like Hardplate armor and LMG's) slow the Heavy down less. Combined with masteries and collections, Heavy Gear can reduce movement penalties below 0%, which adds movement speed. The M1000 with Maxed Heavy Gear and all masteries and collections adds about 20% movement speed. This skill also helps you save cash from using for Skeletonized augment as it could only apply for the chosen weapons.
- Tough Body: You are so tough you are more resistant to damage than normal. Tough body is able to reduce even Dark Minion damage. At max, damage resistance is 54.00%. Giving this skill enough points would significantly improve your damage resistance without spending much for Toughness & Body Armour Expert. If possible, spending skill points equally for each of them is recommended as well.
- Die Another Day: Become 90% immune to damage for a short time. Die Another Day can save your life if your health is very low or prevent your health from becoming low. It is extremely useful when running past a strong boss or when surrounded by a massive horde of zombies (such as the horde in the Meltdown secret cave). This skill grants you better chance to survive in Last Man Standing & Apocalypse mode & even Nightmare mode. It should be noted that this skill uses 39 energy for each use. Therefore, it's recommended to spend enough skill points not only for this skill (to extend duration) but also for Energy Boost / Energy Regen to assure you can use it as frequently as possible. It also has a 50-second long cooldown, this combined with it's high energy cost indicates that this skill is best utilized as a last-resort option for getting out of a situation alive.
- Brute Strength: Your brute strength allows you to push boxes easier and deal damage to zombies just by running into them. With this skill, you can push through hordes of zombies more easily while dealing damage. It is useful if you constantly find yourself surrounded, though at high levels, the damage is negligible (but still useful when you are reloading or dealing with worms from bloaters). Aside from that, this skill is crucial when you play maps that have lots of movable obstacles.
- Concussion: Your shots have a chance to stun zombies. Guns with a high capacity and a high RoF and/or multiple flechettes are ideal for stunning, and may even be able to stun-lock zombies. This skill gives you a better chance to deal with Boss Zombies with Extra fast (especially enraged Devastors, which already move very quickly.)
- Aerial Bombardment: Powerful orbital strike deals massive damage in a targeted area. This skill is very helpful against large, tightly-packed hordes, as its damage is high and its pierce is infinite. It's recommended to give this skill enough skill points to increase the area that it could inflict mass destruction (One extra blast will be added after every 3 levels & each level-up increases the damage of each blast.) This skill costs 60 energy points for each use & has a 90-sec cooldown so it is recommended that you save it for critical moments where it is either most needed or most useful to/for you and/or your team.
Notes[]
- Hold the Line DOES amplify DoT.
- Die Another Day and Tough Body reduce damage from attacks by Dark Minions.
- Stacking them with Hold The Line is also recommended.
- If supported with Critical Shot, a Hold The Line build would potentially have a higher DPS than the Assault class unless the Assault has activated a high-level Killing Spree.
- Hold the Line pierce was once bugged. Extra damage was given by the skill, but the extra pierce did not work. This has been fixed.
- Unlike Bad Blood (Medic's skill), Brute Strength seems to be more active (as Bad Blood deals damage on zombies when they hit you in combat while Brute Strength lets you hit them on contact. This may let the Heavy avoid getting hit altogether.
- Among Heavy's energy-costing skills, Aerial Bombardment uses the most amount of energy points & has the longest cooldown time.
Trivia[]
- The Heavy soldier shown in the image is wielding a LMG that looks extremely similar to the HVM 008, although it is wielded more like a HIKS M1000/HIKS R40.
- As seen in the above image and in-game upside-down illustration, the Heavy Soldier is shown to have most of his left arm/hand equipped with some sort of armor. Though in some illustrations where the Heavy is shown facing to the right, it's his right arm that is the armored one.
- It's also possible that the entirety of his armored arm is a prosthesis like Winter Soldier (a fictional character from Marvel). Coincidentally, Winter Soldier prosthetic arm is also the left arm.
- One extra coincidence is that in the MCU, Winter Soldier was mostly seen using a Machine Gun (specifically the M249) like Heavy as well.
- The Heavy Class model seems to be wearing HVM Combat Boots.
- In the SAS 4 beta the Heavy held the HIKS R40 in his class picture. This was replaced by the HVM 008 as the HIKS R40 ended up being unused from the game.
- The Heavy soldier is the icon of SAS4 Mobile as of version 1.8. However the Steam version of SAS4, which is a port of the mobile version, still retains its original skull logo.
