The CM 530 BabyCOM is a fully automatic light machine gun made by Critical Mass added in the first expansion pack. It has an impressive fire rate and a modest amount of damage. However, what sets the BabyCOM apart from other light machine guns is its massive pierce, exceeding even that of a regular Sub-light COM2. Six pierce coupled with a fire rate of 12 rounds per second allows this weapon to excel at slaughtering large hordes while cornered. However, the BabyCOM suffers from a small clip of 60, but with Masteries added the clip jumps to 110.
Recommended augments are Deadly to increase killing power, Overclocked or Capacity for more DPS and longer shooting, and Adaptive if you play Nightmare a lot. Piercing is not recommended, because this weapon already has a high pierce of 6, while bullets will rarely hit that many zombies at once.
Trivia[]
- It has a higher piercing capability than any other LMG.
- The PC's
version has more red stripes than the mobile version.
- The "BabyCOM" in its name resumably means it was created to be a version of Sub-light COM2 with lower power but higher RoF, piercing.
- However, BabyCOM still has higher movement penalty than COM2. This is probably to make it fitter in LMG category.
- Its description claims it can fire rounds at 25,000 metres per second. This is approximately 55923.40 miles per hour, 73 times the speed of sound (aka Mach 73 if rounded).
- Such speed easily triples the amount of typical re-entry speed, which emits enormous amount of heat (~ 3000 degrees Fahrenheit) & applies massive pressure onto hit targets.
- Such muzzle velocity is impractical for firearms in a real-life situation due to potential malfunction due to, overheating and wear & tear on the barrel. Recoil would also be a major issue due to the high RoF.
- In fictional perspective, however, it proves that Critical Mass has their technology to be one of the most cutting edge in future as being able to create weapons whose muzzle velocity reaches 3 time of re-entry speed & materials that could withstand such heat that every shot of such weapons could emit.
- Humorously, this also shows that the virus that caused infection is so lethal to point its mutation that create organic boss zombies like Devastator, Regurgitator & Necrosis grants them inhuman strength & resilience to withstand at least a few shots from CM 530 BabyCOM before death. However, this is more likely for gameplay balance.
