Ammunition is a usually purchasable item that is consumed by weapons as they fire. When fired, cartridges explode into a casing and the actual projectile, the bullet.
In older games such as SAS: Zombie Assault, SAS: Zombie Assault 2, SAS: Zombie Assault 2 Insane Asylum, and SAS Zombie Assault Tower Defense, the ammunition is ignored and player does not have to purchase them. However, ammunition appears in SAS: Zombie Assault 3 and SAS: Zombie Assault 4.

Trivia[]
- In later updates to the game it became possible to also buy bulk packs of ammo which give 100 times the normal package purchase. Although it makes buying the ammo easier, it does not discount the purchase due to the bulk buy as the cost stays the same value albeit 100 times more expensive than a single pack.
- Buying a pack or bulk pack of ammo requires a single click or multiple for several, however you can also click and hold for a continuous purchase of singular/bulk packs at approximately 5/sec for the desired amount of ammo if clicking is an inconvenience.
- There is a bug in the flash version of the game which can be performed on low magazine semi-auto weapons, where if done correctly the gun that you switch to will load in up to 4 times more ammo than normal into a single magazine. This is done by repeatedly switching between semi-auto guns whilst clicking rapidly, which can be difficult whilst moving the player/fighting zombies.
- This bug also works with High Damage Ammo, and can be extremely convenient with weapons such as the Zerfallen, HIKS S300 and HVM MPG. This bug does work with all semi-autos, however such guns with increased magazine sizes will result in a negative reaction if this is attempted with them.
